Town, Municipal, Association and Organization Website Design

These types of sites represent one of our biggest challenges as web designers. The objective for a town site may be simply to make town information public. An association may wish to simply link contact information for members. Organizational sites may advocate points of view and need an entirely different approach.

No matter what the purpose of the site it is important that the message gets across in a search engine friendly format and that the design encourages the sought-after behavior in the user. The days of simply slapping us a business cards worth of data are over. Visitors expect to leave with knowledge of the purpose of the organization, who is involved and how can they get involved if they want to.

So, it is tricky getting this type of site right. We need to sit down and diagram the aims and desired reaction to the information on the site before creating it. Once all that is accomplished, the actual site can be built.
